Communication
The bridge for communication is built on a relationship between staff and patients. The Network has developed resources to assist dialysis facilities in developing effective communication between staff and patients. Dialysis staff have many different goals when they interact with patients such as answering questions or concerns, giving the patient information about changes, addressing behavioral issues, and helping patients avoid making unhealthy choices in treatment.
Huddle Up for Communication
Many facilities have daily team huddles as a way to communicate and share information with staff. The Huddle Up resources have been developed to provide a visual reminder to discuss key concepts during a quick team “huddle”. The information shared can be used for staff training, shared at your facility “huddle” and/or posted for staff review.
